From the Frontlines – Below 100

Below 100 recently shared this story with us, sent in by a Pennsylvania State Trooper a year after he had received Below 100 training in the academy before graduating:

“Thought about you the other day. 115mph responding to a domestic in progress in heavy fog on a 4 lane highway.  I looked down at the speedometer and backed way out.  I remembered the Below 100 program, and signing my Below 100 oath.  I dropped it to a more conservative 75mph.  I arrived on scene to find the two subjects separated, sitting on the front porch waiting for me.  Getting there 1 minute earlier would have made no difference for them.   But backing out of that throttle may have made all the difference for me that night.  Thought you may want to share it with cadets if you’re still at the academy.  If not, I just want you to know that I appreciate your efforts up there, and you definitely had a positive effect on how I do my business on the road.  From me and my family, thanks for making it ok to make smart, rational decisions on the road.”
